Biography
Dr Gopi Elango is a Specialist General Surgeon with additional subspecialty training in Head & Neck Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, and Surgical Oncology. He holds a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in General Surgery and completed two years of advanced fellowship training at the reputable Westmead Hospital in Sydney—one of Australia’s leading centres for complex cancer and endocrine surgery. His clinical expertise includes thyroid and parathyroid surgery, salivary gland and oral cavity surgery, melanoma and sentinel lymph node biopsy, sarcoma resection, and soft tissue tumour management.
Gopi practises privately in Canberra and contributes actively to several multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, including Head & Neck Cancer, Thyroid, Melanoma, and Sarcoma. He is committed to delivering safe, high-quality, and evidence-based surgical care that is personalised to each patient, with a strong focus on functional preservation and long-term health outcomes.

Outside the operating theatre, Gopi is known for his warm sense of humour, down-to-earth nature, and collaborative approach. He enjoys good music, travel, long walks with his dog and exploring Canberra’s food scene with his young family. Whether operating, mentoring, or simply being a dad, he brings genuine energy and compassion to everything he does.
